Yesterday I rode 3 laps of Healey Nab’s red graded route. The whole ride took me 1 hour 20 minutes and was a decent ride considering the conditions. As you can see from the picture I collected plenty of mud but also used all of the suspension travel. We have a jump section of 6 jumps of differing sizes.
It’s amazing how, if you deliberately get air over the first jump, it really slows you down for the next jump. To go quickly you need to absorb the bumps or the energy ends up as heat in the suspension units as you compress them.
I’ve been making sure that I get plenty of pedalling in on the downhill sections of the circuit since this will speed me up when the conditions are dry. I have already mentioned that I have a target for the full red route this year. Sub 11 minutes will give me a top ten position in the all time list on Strava.
Time to wash the bike, I think!
